Ever since I tried tofu that tasted like fish at a restaurant in Oakland, CA. I’ve been trying to practice making tofu fish.
Ingredients: 1 firm tofu that’s been pressed with paper towels to remove water, a very light sprinkle of Old Bay Seasoning, lemon juice, mayo, nori seaweed strips, soy sauce, liquid smoke
Directions: Carefully slice the tofu and put in a bowl. Add a general amount of soy sauce and a small teaspoon of liquid smoke and a very light sprinkle of Old Bay Seasoning (a lot will be too spicy). This will be the marinade. Let the tofu marinate at least 30 minutes or more (overnight is best) so the tofu can soak all the juices in. Afterward, lay the tofu on a oiled baking pan and add 2-3 strips of nori seaweed on top of each tofu. To make the seaweed stick to the tofu, use what’s left of the marinade on the seaweed so it can be pasted onto the tofu. Heat oven to 350 degrees and place the tofu slices into oven and let it cook for about 45 minutes. Take it out and carefully smear some mayonnaise on it and add freshly squeezed lemon juice and serve immediately. Sooo good.
